Bourbon Glazed No Knead Bread

A few weeks ago, we were in Texas for a family funeral. It was a hard time but we were all glad to see family we never typically see. While there, I bonded with my uncle over bread making! We came up with an incredible recipe that I’ve been trying to perfect. I’ve been working on it the past week and think I’ve got it good to go! I hope you enjoy.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1.5 tsp sugar
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 shots of bourbon [or whiskey if you have that on hand!]
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 Tbsp butter

Directions:

  • Stir together flour, salt, sugar, and yeast
  • Pour in warm water and stir with a wooden spoon until just combined
  • Cover in large bowl and let rise for at least 4 hours but up to 12
  • When ready to bake the bread, on a floured piece of parchment paper, pour out dough and form into a circle – do not knead!
  • Cover with a towel and let rest for 30 minutes
  • While bread is resting, preheat oven to 450* and place Dutch oven inside will preheating
  • While oven is preheating, melt butter, brown sugar, and bourbon over medium low heat until combined and sugar is melted
  • Remove Dutch oven and place bread, with parchment paper inside
  • Pour bourbon mixture over the bread
  • Place lid on top and place in oven for 30 minutes
  • Remove lid, baste bread with the sugar mixture, and bake for an additional 10-13 minutes until golden brown
